Building upon the foundation laid in the early years, our Primary 1 program will further enhance your child’s language skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. We will also introduce them to various question formats to develop their critical thinking abilities and build their confidence.
Vocabulary
- Prepare and cover topics and related vocabulary in advance. This will help your child assimilate their learnings more productively.
- Strengthen their understanding of the vocabulary from their syllabus and steadily expand their vocabulary to encompass a wider variety of words
Reading Comprehension
- Cultivate an interest in learning the Chinese language through storytelling and engaging instructional material
- Gradual exposure to various question formats such as direct questions and inferential questions
Writing
- Strengthen their understanding of sentence structure through step-by-step practices
- Improve on their Pictorial Sentence Writing and/or transit from Pictorial Sentence Writing to 3-Picture Composition Writing
Oral Language, Listening Comprehension
- Build their confidence in expressing and communicating verbally through Show-and-Tell sessions
- Strengthen their observational skills, organizational skills, and verbal communication skills through Berries designed Stick-and-Share picture-based oral conversational practices
Assessment & Review
- Gain an understanding of the areas that need improvement, through mock examinations and composition tests
- Develop confidence in responding to difficult questions on the spot through mock oral examinations
Critical & Inventive Thinking
- Nurture their interest in learning and reading in Chinese through guided reading sessions of specially curated books and deepen their thinking and language ability
